First Union Financial Company Limited was incorporated in 1999 as a limited liability company that provides financial assistance to employees and entrepreneurs. To date, the company mainly operates in the micro-financing sector with two distinct portfolio streams:
Our business loans are geared towards small businesses such as: informal enterprise, sole proprietor, partnership and limited liability. Although we concentrate on established businesses, we do accommodate some startup businesses, even though the risk is greater. Our emphasis however, is placed on developing existing small businesses.
We provide loans to individuals, mainly employees of stable companies which facilitate repayments through salary deductions. This programme is (First Union Financial Assistance Programme) designed for Government employees and specific employees within the private sector.
We continue to make effort to place our agents and branches in strategic areas of Jamaica so as to make our services available to small businesses and employees alike. Our Field Credit Officers mobilize so they can make the necessary visit to entrepreneurs who are not able to visit our branch network.

MAKE FIRST UNION YOUR CHOICE!
Everyone needs a little extra money now and then to pay bills or cover unexpected expenses. But without debt management experience or proper debt planning, a family can soon find themselves in a spiral of debt. Whether it’s making minimum payments on your credit cards or taking your valuables to a pawnshop, being stuck in the debt cycle can cause damage for years to come.
One rule of thumb is that debt should not exceed 20 percent of your take home pay. Another way to handle debt is to set a threshold—for example, no more than 40 percent total debt ratio (all debts divided by take home pay). The key is to know how much debt is reasonable and set a plan to give you a better chance of lowering it.
